Remembering

“Remembering” 2023, 9” x 12” Mixed Media Collage on Cardstock

There’s a tear in the sky I can’t fix
so I buy my time asking questions.
To create oneself from scratch?
I suspect there’s always a catch but
you collect your totems and try.

You learn to play your hand with
symbols that speak a wordless language. Then everything spills over and slips into the moon. And you begin to construct with these pieces gathered. Like building a house, like having a home. The one you always see in your dreams.

Spaces hold memories, not only yours
but the one’s who came before.
Through the woods and earth,
Through the fire that keeps us warm And through the slithering stream our life’s, we stay afloat. Through the trees and the wind that carry us across time. Through the blocks of history that we dismantle ourselves upon.

To move forward, one must travel backwards and to rise up, one has to dig deep. Journey into depths that only the heart knows. Remembering the way
in wonder, in stories. This is how new worlds are created. The tear in the sky don’t need no fixing it’s a portal to a new beginning. ~SEeR
