End of Year Reflection

I haven’t been sharing in my diary here since the summer but for any updates you can always go to my IG page. It’s the only thing I really keep up with. I have a love-hate for social media and self-promotion. Although I know in this day and age it’s so deeply woven into everyday culture and we live in a capitalistic society so everyone is trying to sell you something and make a buck. I wish there was a better way! As an artist, I know I need to “market” myself but it’s not my strength and I am slowly trying to put myself out there more but in a meaningful way, without selling my soul.

Not only that, it seems that there are so many “imposters” out there ready to just imitate instead of taking authentic inspired action. They just take someone’s ideas, don’t give a “shout out” and pass it as their own. I have written about this before because it drives me mad! It’s one thing to get inspired by someone’s posts, style, whatever and use it to ignite your own ideas but it’s just so frustrating to put so much time and energy into content to then have someone just come and do the same exact thing. You know? Social media becomes a free for all and a copy machine. There is no originality anymore. Also “fake” profiles being duplicated for solicitation. On and on. I guess with any good thing there is the manifestation of its darker side. Look I am not saying I am a fucking creative genius but I do care about being authentic! And giving credit where credit is due. That is all!

Regardless, I am wanting to share more but reflecting on what and how to share on these public platforms. I even opened a TikTok and I am cringing. I had so many friends encourage me to do so but I don’t know. I am still on the fence. I might just use it to show art process videos and maybe some other relative content. We will see how things unfold for 2023. They are all just tools and what matters is how you use them.

My birthday quickly approaches and I always get very reflective around this time. This year has been treacherous for me on many levels. I have had to deal with some health issues. There have been challenging life events, losses, endings, shifting and changing. But there have been good things too! I have been teaching art more and that is what I hope to transition into next year. I will write more on my reflections but for now just stopping by to say hi!

Our last full moon of 2023 is coming up this Wednesday, 12/7 and I will be posting a tarot reading so stay tuned. We have the winter solstice on 12/21 and shortly after a New Moon 12/23. My birthday is smack in the middle of this and I will be in Costa Rica bringing in some new energy for myself!!! In numerology, I was in a 4 year cycle which was very limiting and restrictive energy and next year I am entering a personal 5 year which is all about freedom, adventure and creativity! I can’t wait! I am ready!!!! :)

What else can I share? I guess that is it for now! For whoever reads this, I hope you are well and I wish good things for you too in this upcoming new year! Be proud of who you are and share from that deep truth! This is a great time to try to rest, reflect and see how far we have all come. As you take inventory of 2022, set some intentions for your new year!

XOXO
